German Links
For beginner funsies, check out kids’ Maus-Spiele, a branch off of the Seite mit der Maus main site.

Also check out Deutschland’s RTL Video site, kind of a similar site to a German YouTube. The videos change regularly, so check back in for more German listening input.

Grammatik (Grammar)

There is one great site for German grammar, and this is the link to it. It has many resources, but German grammar is hard to very hard to understand without a teacher / tutor to provide helpful lessons:

You and I would often go through the grammar section to help understand the complicated rules of grammar and try to simplify them. The site has lots of worksheets, etc, which should be very helpful.

German-English Dictionary (LEO Deutsch-Englisch Wörterbuch)

A good language learning is a willing guesser. But if you can’t count on guessing, look the word up in the LEO.

For umlauts in German words there or anywhere on the internet, use the international symbols for umlauts by typing: oe for ö, ue for ü, ae for ä, and for the ß type ss.

Podster.de – A good way to get lots of listening input when you’re doing something else and just want to hear some good new German. Some great music podcasts, etc. – See the “Suchen” link to search for your topic of interest.
There’s also the Tagesschau (Daily Show, with news, etc.). The German here is pretty high-brow, but very current news since it updates several times daily.

For those who are advanced enough to read the German news in German, check out Reed College’s links for German Department Resources.

or check out Vanderbilt University’s links for German media.

Lastly, if you haven’t had enough German Links yet, visit Jim Becker’s Large Collection of German Links. Jim is the Professor Emeritus at the University of Northern Iowa.
